Aged 16-25? Here's what the Prince's Trust can do for you.
Right across Staffordshire the Prince’s Trust Team programme is helping young people from age 16 to 25 find their way in life. So even if you left school with no qualifications or if you're just unsure what job or study path to take - the course does what it says on the tin and gives you time to find out what you want to do.

The programme's aim is simple - help you enhance your job prospects, build confidence and skills to help you get work or go onto further education and training. You’ll also get to work on different qualifications which look impressive on your CV.

The 12 week programme sees team members the challenge of a residential week, doing work experience, planning a community project and even raising the funds to pay for that project.

NAOMI BERRIDGE

After a period out of work due to the recession and battling with depression, twenty-three year old Naomi Berridge decided to take control of her life and signed up for The Prince’s Trust Team Programme organised by Stoke on Trent College. She completed the course at the College’s Stafford Team location.

Now she is the toast of the College - after notching up the Dee Set ‘Flying Start Award’ at the Trust’s West Midlands Celebrate Success Awards 2010. She beat off stiff competition from two other finalists within her category at the event, and she went forward to the National Celebrate Success Awards final held at the Odeon, Leicester Square in London on 23rd March 2011. But better was to follow as Naomi was selected as the national winner of the Flying Start Award. As the award was supported by the ITV television program ‘This Morning’ Naomi was interviewed by Philip Schofield and Holly Willoughby where she spoke candidly about her past, time on the Prince’s Trust Team Programme and her future aspirations. Visit the Prince’s Trust website www.princes-trust.org.uk for more details and watch her TV interview.

Richard Ogden, Stoke on Trent College’s Alternative Skills 4 Life Manager said: “It’s a fantastic achievement for Naomi and one she thoroughly deserves.”

“It's also a fantastic achievement for the College and for the staff who deliver the programme. Naomi has done both herself and the College proud.”

Naomi is working as a support worker with a mental health team she says:

“Thanks to the Team Programme, I’ve learned to love my life again. If it wasn’t for the programme, I would still be hiding away from the world feeling terrified of rejection.”
