COURSE LEVEL

BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Performing Arts (Production)

What is this course about?

This highly popular course is an exciting introduction to the demanding and enjoyable key elements of Technical Theatre. Through practical projects you will develop and explore new skills in stage design, lighting, sound, make-up and crewing. These will prepare you for the staging of full scale performances in our own theatre space, “Venue 4”, at the end of the academic year. Our projects focus on learning and developing techniques for designing and building, as well as organisational and communication skills for your own study and working with others.

Location:
Burslem

Entry Requirements

4 GCSEs grade D or above. BTEC Introductory Certificate or Diploma, appropriate NVQ Level 1, or another relevant Level 1 or Foundation qualification. You will have a pre-induction interview/assessment to make sure this is the right level for you.

How is it taught?

Learning takes place in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, through a weekly timetable of lessons which are a combination of workshops, lectures, production rehearsals, discussions, independent study and tutorials. You will be allocated a personal tutor who is there to help you gain the most from your course and support you to enhance your learning.

How will I be assessed?

The course is assessed through internally devised and marked assignments.

What else do I need to know?

Functional Skills will also form an important part of your course; they are skills that we use and need within our study, work and everyday life. They fit mainly into three categories: English, Maths and Information Technology.
