IELTS (International English Language Testing System) Preparation

What is this course about?

An IELTS qualification is the most common university entrance requirement for overseas students wishing to study in the UK. It is also required by many organisations which recruit large numbers of professionals from overseas, such as the NHS. The IELTS preparation course uses authentic test material and simulated activities to coach students through the test, and provides students with key strategies and techniques required for attaining 6.0 to 7.5. the College is NOT a testing centre. You will need to register for the test at a test centre.

Entry Requirements

An initial assessment in English language skills. You need Level 1 or above.

How is it taught?

The course is classroom based, with access to the appropriate technology. You can access additional resources on the ESOL Moodle learning site.

How will I be assessed?

The College is NOT a testing centre. You will need to register for the test at a test centre nearby (e.g. Manchester).

What else do I need to know?

You can study an IELTS preparation course alongside other ESOL qualifications.

What could I do next?

Most universities require that speakers of other languages pass the IELTS test in order to gain entry onto their degree courses.
