What is this course about?

Are you thinking of working with children? Then this qualification will allow learners to gain a basic knowledge of childcare in early years environments. It covers working with children up to the age of 5 years and It is recommended that students should be volunteering in an early years setting.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this course, but students must be at least 16 years of age.It is recommended that students should be volunteering in an early years setting.

How is it taught?

Taught sessions will be varied to meet the needs of all students, including practical sessions and written tasks.

How will I be assessed?

All units will be individually internally assessed using a range of methods which could include: written assignments or tasks such as designing a leaflet or booklet, charts or diagrams.

What else do I need to know?

Learners may progress on to the Level 2 Certificate for the Children and Young People's Workforce which will confer competence and after successful completion allow learners to gain employment in the childcare sector.

What could I do next?

Learners may progress on to the Level 2 Certificate for the Children and Young People's Workforce where they will need to be working or volunteering for a minimum of 8 hours each week in a childcare setting.
