Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) Level 2 Certificate in Accounting

What is this course about?

The AAT is a internationally recognised qualification, split into three levels with Level 2 being the first of the three. The Certificate level will give you the skills to excel at a wide range of accounting and finance jobs. It shows employers that you have practical skills in accounting underpinned by thorough knowledge that will help you achieve success in the workplace. At this level you’ll start to develop your skills in double entry bookkeeping and gain a grasp of management and administrative processes.

Entry Requirements

You must have a good standard of education. "We only ask that you’re numerate and that you can complete assessments and written projects in English" (AAT Guide). You must enjoy working with numbers and have excellent communication skills. An initial assessment and informal interview are required to establish enthusiasm, commitment and interest.

How is it taught?

Learning takes place in a friendly and relaxed environment and your lecturers are there to help you get the most from your course. Self study is also an essential part of the course and students are encouraged to use the Learning Resources Centre where they can access the most up to date computer facilities and journals and textbooks relating to accountancy.

What else do I need to know?

The AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) is a professional body that specialises in Accounting Technician training and development.
You will learn skills relevant to a Finance Officer’s role and the course focuses on the basic costing principles, how to use manual and computerised accounting systems and how to work with purchase, sales, and general ledgers. You are assessed through online assessments and exams in our specialist IT facilities. Other areas covered are communication skills and team work, professional ethics, planning and organising work and roles and functions.
To apply for this course you must complete an application form. You will then be invited to attend the initial assessment and an informal interview.
