Emergency First Aid at Work

What is this course about?

This is a six hour course that provides the basic understanding of what is required to deliver First Aid to individuals. The course, in addition to providing practical information, also provides hints/tips as to how the individual can maintain their own safety when administering First Aid to others.

How is it taught?

Learning takes place in a friendly and relaxed environment. Your lecturer and the guidance team are there to help you get the most from your course.

How will I be assessed?

Within a classroom environment the session is interactive and students do need to participate in practical activities.

ï Legal aspects of health and safety at work
ï Managements of an incident
ï Casualty assessment
ï Unconsciousness and recovery position
ï Resuscitation assessing the situation, procedure for calling and ambulance and the recovery position
ï Common accidents:
Choking
Bleeding
Falls
ï Open questions
This course does not enable the individual to be the designated "first aider" within the workplace.

What could I do next?

The learner can progress onto the Full First Aid at Work qualification, if their work role permits this. Some learners may wish to progress onto other Health and Safety qualifications.
