What is this course about?

This course will show you how to extend your knowledge of handling and storing flower paste, how to apply colour, an awareness of shape and form of complex flowers when using manufactured cutters and veiners. You should be able to produce a variety of complex spray of flowers showing shape, form and thinness of paste.

Entry Requirements

Some experience is essential: a level one in cake decorating or any other dicipline, practical skills in sugarcraft, marzipan or royal icing is desirable.

How is it taught?

Stoke on Trent College has some of the most comprehensive and up-to- date facilities in the country. Learning takes place in a building with up-to-date facilities including interactive learning materials, comfortable work areas and equipment necessary for your course. Demonstrations and hands on workshops make up the practical programme. The final craft item to be produced will go forward for assessment on completion of the course, a College Certificate will be awarded.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment involves the collection of evidence. The evidence will take the form of practical items produced during the course. A portfolio of evidence is produced showing progression of your work. This is assessed by the tutor and graded. A College Certificate will be awarded.A certificate is awarded by ncfe at level 2 as an option if you deceide to register with the awarding body.

What else do I need to know?

Some specialist equipment may be required, details for this is discussed on week one. All equipment needed is available to purchase in class.
