BTEC Extended Diploma in IT with Animation & Games Design

What is this course about?

The course includes BTEC Extended Award/Diploma Qualifications for IT Practitioners and is aimed at those people who wish to follow a specialist technical pathway. The course includes studying modules on communication technologies, digital graphics, 2D animation production, 3D modelling, web animation and interactive media. In addition, this course will enable you to enhance your communication skills by completion of Functional English up to level 2.

Entry Requirements

4 GCSEs grade A*-C, BTEC 1st Diploma, appropriate NVQ Level 2 or Intermediate qualification. You will have a pre induction interview/assessment to make sure this is the right level for you.

How is it taught?

Stoke on Trent College has some of the most comprehensive and up-to-date facilities in the country. The Learning Resource Centres are designed to help students by offering information technology facilities, workshops and libraries. You will learn via lectures, demonstration and classroom based workshops. In addition to your main qualification, you will also have personal one-to-one tutorials with your Personal Tutor who will help guide you on your course.

Your main course will be delivered through lectures, demonstrations and workshops within the classroom environment. As part of your course you will have personal one-to-one tutorials with a personal tutor who will help to guide you through your course. As this is a Level 3 course you will be required to complete a substantial amount of private/independent study - approximately twelve hours per week.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment is assignment based. Completion of eighteen units provides the equivalent of 3 A Levels which can be achieved at Pass to Distinction grade.

What else do I need to know?

This course is for those students wishing to develop advanced level ICT skills through a web/games development and programming route.

What could I do next?

You may choose to go straight into employment, take up an Advanced Apprenticeship or progress to Higher Education.
