Stoke-on-Trent College takes centre stage at The Regent Theatre
The Regent Theatre is opening its doors to young people in the city to offer them a taste of the working world of theatre.
Students and young people will get the chance to see the theatre in a completely different light, as they will be offered the chance to take part in backstage tours and interactive backstage displays.
Stoke-on-Trent College is working alongside the theatre to offer students and young people an insight into the creative courses that the college offer, for people who think they may want a career in the arts.
Charles Bartholomew, assistant director of media and performing arts at the college, said: “We hope this open day will open people’s eyes to the amazing opportunities there are to get involved with all aspects of the creative arts.
“Whether it’s just watching an exciting performance, to actually getting involved yourself through doing a course that could be six hours or two years, there is something for everyone and for all ages.
“Staff from many of our departments including music technology, performing and production arts, art and art and design, will all be on hand on the day to advise people about all the exciting careers which are possible in the arts.”
Richard Leigh, marketing manager at the theatre, said: “We are delighted to be working with Stoke-on-Trent College to show what happens backstage at The Regent Theatre and the great choice of arts courses at the college. If you’ve ever wondered what happens behind the scenes of your favorite shows, visit us on our open day to take a backstage tour and see how we create all the special effects!”
The Open Day will take place at The Regent Theatre on Saturday July 14, from 11am-3pm. Meet the college and theatre staff, and go behind the scenes with hourly tours and hands-on tasters.
