Large businesses will employ hundreds of people in departments dedicated to things like marketing and human resources; smaller employers will often look for people with a rounded skillset in the effective and profitable operation of their business.

 

The Careers

As business is such a varied sector, there are many career pathways for you to consider. Our previous students have embarked on exciting careers in a broad range of business areas e.g. marketing, accounting, sales and human resources. Some students may also choose to start their own businesses. The number of under-35s starting businesses has risen by more than 70% over the last decade – with many start-ups focussed on the digital market. Our programmes can all lead to university or directly into employment.


Advanced Apprenticeship Business Administration – Business Administration route

Business, Management & Finance

This work based Apprenticeship is ideal if you are working in, or want to work within a Business Administration role at an advanced level. You will gain technical knowledge and real practical experience to start your career. You will learn in the workplace, away from your workstation and have the opportunity to use the new modern facilities within the College. You will have the opportunity to practice and embed new skills in a real work context. You will take a Diploma in Business Administration, at Level 3. If you do not have maths, English or ICT qualifications at the necessary level, then you will need to achieve these at Level 2 to be successful in your Apprenticeship. Apprentices would gain a range of skills, such as, dealing with internal and external correspondence, organising meetings and events, producing documents, managing resources, managing office equipment, managing information, managing administration systems, managing office facilities. Understanding of how the business operates is integral within this Apprenticeship. You will have the opportunity to practice and embed new skills in a real work context. You will take a Foundation Certificate in Accounting at Level 2. If you do not have maths or English qualifications at the necessary level, then you will need to achieve these at Level 1 to be successful in your Apprenticeship. Apprentices would gain a range of skills, such as, maintaining relevant financial records (both manual and computerised) and ensuring the proper handling and control of all cash transactions. You could also perform any combination of the following; calculating, posting and verifying duties to obtain financial data for use in maintaining accounting records.
