With almost 750,000 jobs in the UK and due to grow by over 5% in Staffordshire, this is a buoyant sector, covering the media and entertainment industries in areas such as music performance and production, theatres and festivals.

 

The Careers

Careers are really varied, as businesses involved in the production of music or the performing arts include a very wide range of professions. These include musicians, technologists, sound, lighting and stage management engineers, actors, dancers, event and venue managers and production directors. Roles are available at all levels and there are well established career pathways in the different professions.

Technical Theatre ? Sound, Lighting, Set and Stage Management Level 3 Extended Diploma

Music & Performing Arts

During the course you will learn about and take various roles within the technical team for a production and will ultimately take responsibility for different areas of production. This can include: stage management, lighting, sound scenic construction and painting, prop making, design, model making, costume and special effects. Throughout the course teaching is through a combination of taught classroom based sessions and practical sessions, which lead to practical hands-on experience of running a show.
