This course offers an interesting and challenging series of units designed to provide you with a broad knowledge of business and help you develop relevant skills to enable you to progress into work in the modern business world.
• BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Business with Marketing
• BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Business with Retail
Units you will study include core units in Business Environment, Business Resources, Introduction to Marketing, Business Communication. You will then study specialist units in Retail or Marketing, Human Resources, Accounting, Economics, Team Building, Events Management, Career Development, Recruitment and Selection, Website Design and Business planning.

Entry Requirements

4 GCSEs at grade A*-C including English at Grade C, or a BTEC Level 2 Diploma in IT /Business (Merit grade), or an appropriate NVQ Level 2 or an Intermediate qualification. You will have a pre-induction interview/assessment to make sure this is the right course and level for you.

How Is It Assessed

All units are assignment based and you can work towards a pass, merit or distinction.

How Is It Taught

You would study three units per term, combining formal lectures alongside carrying out research and taking part in visits. In addition industry speakers help to provide insight into the modern business world. You will learn to work with others in team activities including residential trips. Businesses we have worked with include: Tesco, QHM, Cadbury, Unilever, Dudson Ltd, Alton Towers, NatWest, Stoke on Trent College departments, Grensons Solicitors, Plink Fizz, Unity, Disneyland, Heights of Abraham, Drayton Manor, Hanley Economic Building Society, UNIQ, Morrisons and Staffordshire University. Visits/residential that have been offered include, Alton Towers, Cadbury World, BBC Television Centre, Bank of England, London Eye, London Dungeon, Madam Tussauds, West end Theatres, Disneyland Paris, University college Birmingham, Staffordshire University, Manchester Arndale Centre, Trafford centre, Clothes Show, Nottingham City Centre, Derby Westfields Centre, High Ash Farm, Chester City centre, Liverpool Docks, Birmingham Bullring, Morrisons distribution centre and Local banks. In addition students will be required a complete a work experience programme to gain valuable experience in the workplace and appropriate enrichment activities to support this placement.

What Could I do Next

The qualification and skills acquired during this study programme can be used within the modern business world or in the wider job market. You could progress onto many different programmes of study including: Honours degree level studies, HNC/HND and Apprenticeships.

What Else Do I Need To Know

This course will provide the opportunities to progress onto Higher Education or to embark on a career in business, retailing or the commercial professions. Please note: It takes 2 years to complete this full Level 3 qualification. Progression to the second year of the course is subject to successful achievement of the first year of the course.
