Course Summary

The Science Foundation Year (SFY) gives you the opportunity to enter degree courses in science if your qualifications do not meet normal Year 1 entry requirements. This is a proven route to achievement with a long track record of success. Importantly, the SFY is tailor-made to prepare you for the BSc (Hons.) Biological Science.

High levels of tutor support and guidance will prepare you for Degree level study. The Foundation Year for this course has a long successful track record in providing a smooth transition onto the BSc (Hons) Boiological Science Degree. This route is useful if you have only studied sciences up to GCSE Level or have had a break in your studies.

It has a module structure covering the four core components (Biology, Chemistry, Applied Science and Mathematics and Data Handling) that ensure you have the foundation with the subject knowledge and two additional modules (Communicating Science Project and Academic and Digital Skills) ensuring that you have the key transferable skills (including communication and IT) required to complete a biological science degree through which you will examine and understand the living world around you.

Tuition fees for the following 3 years at Staffordshire University will be charged at Staffordshire University's standard undergraduate tuition fees. Please see relevant course pages at www.staffs.ac.uk
