The CYQ Level 2 Gym Instructors qualification is a nationally recognised qualification that can lead employment in any gym facility.students will cover:
Anatomy and physiology including:
- the heart and circulatory system
- the respiratory system
- structure and function of the skeleton
- musculoskeletal system
- postural and core stability
- the nervous and energy systems and their relation to exercise
How to maintain health, safety and welfare in a variety of fitness environments, including the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults
How to programme safe and effective exercise for a range of clients, the health benefits of physical activity and the importance of healthy eating
How to communicate with clients effectively, and motivate clients to adhere to an exercise programme
The skills and knowledge required to plan and prepare a gym-based exercise programme with apparently healthy adults - both individuals and groups. Client groups also covered are older adults, ante and postnatal clients and disabled clients provided the relevant contraindications and key safety guidelines are observed

How Is It Taught
The course initially covers the theoretical aspects of Anatomy and Physiology. This gives students the knowledge required to safely and effectively develop fitness training programmes for clients with a wide range of specific needs. Once this knowledge has been successfully gained, the course moves onto a more practical approach. During this phase, students will develop practical experience of inducting students to a gym environment, developing training programmes and demonstrating/teaching a range of free/fixed weights and cardiovascular exercises.A series of workshops and tutorials will support your learning and development. It is required that all students complete homewor and further reading following each session.What Could I do Next

Sometimes known as 'entry level,' certain Level 2 qualifications (e.g Certificate in Fitness Instructing) provide entry onto the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) at Level 2 and can lead to jobs as Gym Instructors. Once qualified, many Level 2 qualifications offer routes into teaching different disciplines such as studio cycling, step and circuits. Their level is equivalent to GCSE grades A-C or NVQ 2. Successful completion of the level 2 qualification can lead to the Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training.Entry Requirements
