Course Requirements

How Is It Taught

Classes last up to 2.5 hours of various length, depending on your level and what you want to achieve. You will be working in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere with others of similar abilities in a supportive environment. Content is a mixture of group activities, discussions and individual study is used to help everybody towards their own targets. Learning is on paper, computer and often includes puzzles and games to problem solving skills around the sunject.

What Could I do Next

Your tutor will talk with you regularly during the course about how you’re getting on and about moving on to the next stage. You could move onto the next level of functional skills English and then onto a GCSE course. You will also be introduced to other services the college has that could help - including Careers and Job Bank. This means that you can be ready to make the most of new opportunities. You might want to brush up on your maths skills as well - and we can help you with a course on that too!

What Else Do I Need To Know

We aim to run courses at a time and place to suit... they are available throughout the week at a wide range of times - and right across the City at local centres. For an informal chat about the course, what it's really like, and how to get on it… simply call the recruitment team on 01782 208208. We’ll help you work out exactly what you want to achieve at college and then we’ll help you get there - we’ll spend some time with you to sort out your own individual learning plan so you know where you’re going. Please note that in addition to Cauldon and Burslem, these courses will be available at alternative venues. Further information will become available as details are confirmed, so please contact the Recruitment Team if you are interested.
