Course Summary

This course is designed for adults who want to develop knowledge and skills in creating and developing ceramic based wares and crafts.

Are you interested in throwing and glazing? Do you wish to use pottery wheels? Then this course is the ideal way for you to develop your knowledge and practical skills.

Taught at our spacious art and ceramics rooms in the brand new Digital and Creative Hub at Cauldon campus, opposite Staffordshire Univerity and Hanley Park, this course will provide you with an awareness and understanding of the creative process as well as practical knowledge of how to apply this to your ceramic designs. You will explore a range of methods and techniques as well as learning how to develop your own ceramic work.

On this course you have access to workshops, pottery wheels, spray booths, kiln and drying rooms. This course is assessment only (no exams)!

Course Requirements

How Is It Assessed

The assessment is through continual feedback and workshop discussions. There is no formal qualification awarded and your attendance to sessions is required for completion. There are no exams to sit for this course.

How Is It Taught

The course is taught by specialist lecturers including working professionals, who aim to help you to gain the most from the course. The course is delivered through a mixture of practical workshops, lectures and some self directed study. You will have fun with opportunity to learn how to develop your pottery skills and knowledge, practical techniques and skills.

What Could I do Next

On successful completion of this course you could be able to progress to our Level 2 Award in Ceramics course or one of our other Creative Media or Art & Design courses, depending on where your interests lie.

The course is a short introductory course, that runs over a 4-week period. There are 8 sessions in total. Sessions are held on Monday and Tuesday evenings, starting 5:30pm to 8:30pm.
