Course Summary

Unit 1 - Introduction to cyber security
The learner will gain an understanding of the need for cyber security and the impact of cyber crime. They will also know about the various job functions in the sector and related key skill requirements.
Unit 2 - Understand terminology used in cyber security
The learner will understand cyber security terminology, and the concept of social engineering.
Unit 3 - Understand legal and ethical aspects of cyber security
Learners will understand the key legislation related to cyber security and how to maintain data confidentiality and security. They will also understand ethical and unethical conduct within cyber security.
Unit 4 - Understand common threats to cyber security
Learners will develop an understanding of malicious software and the ways in which a system can be infected. They will understand common and emerging threats, as well as physical threats to cyber security.
Unit 5 - Understand methods of maintaining cyber security
Learners will understand the preventative methods used to maintain cyber security, including the principles of user access control and use of firewalls.
Unit 6 - Working with others in cyber security
The learner will understand team working and the use of interpersonal skills and communication when working in a cyber security role.

Course Requirements

Entry Requirements

You must be aged 19+
You must live in England (not available to people living in Ireland, Scotland or Wales)
You must have been an EU resident for at least 3 years
No qualifications are necessary for you to start the course.
All learners are subject to an eligibility check before you can start the course. You may be required to forward information to us about your current employment or income/benefit status to allow you to get started.

How Is It Assessed

Assessment is based on answering questions either online or by completing a paper-based question/answer paper.

How Is It Taught

As you work through the learning materials, you will have the support of a knowledgeable assessor/tutor who will give you support, advice and guidance on the course content as well as providing robust feedback on the work you complete. This course consists of 2 assessments to be completed 4 weeks apart. Upon successful completion of the course, you will be awarded the CACHE Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Cyber Security.

What Could I do Next

After completing a distance learning qualification and receiving confirmation from your assessor that the course has been achieved, learners are able to enrol on another distance learning qualification.

What Else Do I Need To Know

The assessments are divided into units and submission of answers is per unit. Support is available from your assessor throughout the course and after the completion of each unit when the assessor will assess the answers provided and provide written feedback.
