How Is It Taught
The course initially covers the theoretical aspects of Anatomy and Physiology. This gives students the knowledge required to safely and effectively develop fitness training programmes for clients with a wide range of specific needs. Once this knowledge has been successfully gained, the course moves onto a more practical approach. During this phase, students will develop practical experience of inducting students to a gym environment, developing training programmes and demonstrating/teaching a range of free/fixed weights and cardiovascular exercises.A series of workshops and tutorials will support your learning and development. It is required that all students complete homewor and further reading following each session.

What Else Do I Need To Know
Sometimes known as 'entry level,' certain Level 2 qualifications (e.g Certificate in Fitness Instructing) provide entry onto the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) at Level 2 and can lead to jobs as Gym Instructors. Once qualified, many Level 2 qualifications offer routes into teaching different disciplines such as studio cycling, step and circuits. Their level is equivalent to GCSE grades A-C or NVQ 2. Successful completion of the level 2 qualification can lead to the Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training.
