Course Summary
The Level 3 Children's Play Learning and Development allows you to work in a variety of supervisory roles within the early year's workforce. The course also carries UCAS points to support you in the progression to University to study courses such as Teaching Training, Early Childhood Studies or children's Social Work.Learners will study a variety of themes such as Health and Wellbeing, Play, development and learning and professional development. The course provides the knowledge and theory of Childcare practice and learners will spend 2 days each week in a real work environment where you will be able to demonstrate the practical application of this learning and assessed on your competency.Course Requirements
Entry Requirements
5 GCSEs grade 5 or above including Englishand Maths, and appropriate Level 2. You will have
a pre-induction interview/assessment to
make sure this is the right level for you. All
learners will need to have a clear DBS prior
to the start of the course and wil be required
to purchase a uniform.
How Is It Assessed
Learners will produce a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of early years care and education. Learners will be assessed on their practical skills in the workplace environment by a college assessor.How Is It Taught
Taught sessions will be a variety of theory classes, discussions, workshops and practical activities to suit the learning styles of all learners. Learners will also gain practical experience in the workplace for 2 days each week where they will be assessed by a college assessor. English and Maths will also form an important part of your course, as these are skills we use in all aspects of our study, work and everyday life.What Could I do Next
Progression routes include employment as an Early Years Educator in a childcare setting, an assistant alongside a teacher in a school or a supervisor in a pre-school. Level 4 and 5 qualifications or progression to University to study a variety of career paths including teaching, social work or midwifery.What Else Do I Need To Know
All learners will need to have a clear DBS check prior to the start of the course. Learners are expected to purchase and wear a uniform consisting of a tunic, black trousers and flat black shoes. This uniform must be worn in college and in the workplace. English and Maths will also form an important part of your course, as these are skills we use in all aspects of our study, work and everyday life. Please note: It takes 2 years to complete this full Level 3 qualification. Progression to the second year of the course is subject to successful achievement of the first year of the course.Entry Requirements
