The Computer Science course is designed to equip you with a wide range of IT skills so that you can adapt to the frequent changes in the world of computing.There are two routes available:
Networking with Digital Forensics Route
Do you want to be the next Sherlock?
Then learn the ins and outs of detecting and solving cybercrime on the exciting new Digital Forensics and Networking programme, where we’ll teach you all the fundamentals that are required in this growing business sector, including crime scene management, networking, security, operating systems, scripting and case management. You’ll also benefit from learning a range of key IT skills for business, making you truly business-savvy for when you progress into employment or to university. Digital Forensics is offered as an Honours degree programme at local universities, giving you an ideal route onward in this fascinating subject area. On successful completion of this course you will achieve an Edexcel BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in IT (Networking and Systems Support) qualification.
Software Engineering and Games Programming Route
If your ambition is to work at the forefront of the computer games or software industries, then this course will set you on the right path. You will focus on developing programming skills through units in developing computer games, software design and development, computer games design, event driven programming, object oriented programming, and computer game platforms and technologies. You will also benefit from learning a number of key IT skills for business solutions, so that you are truly ready for employment or to progress to university, where you could study games programming, software engineering, or games concept design. You could also progress onto a higher level apprenticeship in an IT technical role. On successful completion of this course you will achieve an Edexcel BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in IT (Software Development) qualification.
