Entry Requirements
4 GCSEs or equivalent at Grade C or above. Must include a Grade C in English.
How Is It Assessed
Assessments are conducted via the submission of a portfolio which consists of both practical and theoretical elements per unit studied.
How Is It Taught
The course is taught in a classroom and lab environment over 2 years where the initial 36 weeks or first year of study allows you to complete 9 units worth 1.5 A Levels. In year 2, you will complete the Extended Diploma IT course and achieve the equivalent of 3 A-Levels.
What Could I do Next
One of the main progression routes would be a Higher Education qualification which could be in a number of areas such as Games Programming, Software Engineering, Digital Forensics and Games Concept Design. Other routes include foundation or HE courses in a related area. Alternatively an Advanced or Higher Apprenticeship within an IT Technical role could also be considered.
What Else Do I Need To Know
On successful completion of this course you will achieve an Edexcel BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in IT qualification. Please note: It takes 2 years to complete this full Level 3 qualification. Progression to the second year of the course is subject to successful achievement of the first year of the course.
