Course Summary

Our literacy courses through Skills for Employment will help adult learners to improve their literacy up to a Level 2, and they run for 6 weeks.

Course Requirements

Entry Requirements

A basic literacy assessment is carried out at the initial assessment stage which will determine which level of literacy you need to study at.
Your level will determine which class you will be in.

How Is It Assessed

An online examination at the end of your course together with work carried out during the classes.

How Is It Taught

face to face in class.

What Could I do Next

Many learners progress through the levels to eventually gain a Level 1 or 2 in Functional skills. Progression can be onto further skills for employment courses such as Social Care or Business Administration or onto other college courses. Once a Level 1 or 2 in Literacy is achieved most courses are available to you.

What Else Do I Need To Know

If you have any issues with literacy as an adult learner our classes can help you improve your levels and in turn this can help you with job seeking as well as family learning with your children. You must be over 19 and in receipt of a benefit and job centres can easily refer you onto this course.
