Accounting AAT Advanced Diploma (Association of Accounting Technicians)
What is this course about?
The Diploma level 3 in Accounting is a high quality training programme designed to help you to become as effective as possible in your career and gain an internationally recognised qualification relating to your work. This level introduces more complex accounting tasks for Financial and Management Accounting following on from the Level 2 Certificate.
The course covers six units relating to Advanced Bookkeeping, Final Accounts Preparation, Management Accounting: Costing, Indirect Tax, Ethics for Accountants, and Spreadsheets for Accounting. For further detail refer to the AAT website: http://www.aat.org.uk/.
How is it taught
Our Online & On Campus approach enables students to benefit from both face-to-face teaching at Stoke-on-Trent College and online lessons available on demand. This approach offers a truly flexible study experience. In addition to attending face-to-face classes weekly, students will be expected to undertake between 8 and 10 hours of additional study out of college.
What else do I need to know?
All examination fees are included in the cost of the course – this applies to 1 exam per unit only and subsequent resits are NOT included in the course cost. All learners will be required to complete an initial assessment in Maths and English and obtain at Least L2 in both. You will also be required to complete a specific accounting exercise. The AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) is a professional body that specialises in Accounting Technician training and development. A student completing this qualification will cover a range of complex accounting tasks, including maintaining cost accounting records and the preparation of reports and returns. Students will learn and master financial processes, including accounting principles and concepts, advanced bookkeeping, final accounts, VAT issues in business, management accounting costing techniques and ethical practices for accountants. All of the units within the Advanced Diploma in Accounting qualification are mandatory. Four of the units are assessed individually in end-of-unit assessments, but this qualification also includes a synoptic assessment, sat towards the end of the qualification, which draws on and assesses knowledge and understanding from across the qualification. To achieve the qualification and to be awarded a grade, a student must pass all the mandatory assessments and the synoptic assessment. To apply for this course you must complete an application form. You will then be invited to attend the initial assessment and an informal interview.
