EDX E3 Ext Cert in Care
What is this course about?
This course is for students aged 16-19 who are working at Entry Level in Literacy and Numeracy and wish to follow a health and social care route. You will have the opportunity to develop vocational skills as well as improve your Literacy, Numeracy, ICT and personal and social skills.
No formal requirements, but you will have a pre-induction interview/assessment to make sure this is the right level for you. All learners will need to have a clear DBS check prior to the start of the course.
How is it taught
Learning takes place in vocational settings as well as classroom sessions, with a mixture of practical and theory sessions. The course runs for one year with a timetable of approximately eighteen hours per week. Trips and visits to support learning are also included.
How will I be assessed?
Students build portfolios of evidence and assessments take place throughout the year. Students will also complete English, Maths and IT tests.
What else do I need to know?
This course covers a range of vocational options and the vocational route chosen will determine which units are covered. The units for each vocational option will be a combination of Vocational, Personal & Social development units. To get on the course you will need to complete an application form and then you will be invited to come in for an interview and assessment.

From this course you may be able to progress to a Level 1 course, into work or training.
