UAL L3 Dip in Performing & Production Arts
What is this course about?
This highly popular and exciting course will build skills and knowledge in all aspects of the performing arts industry. Through practical projects you will develop and explore new skills in dance, drama and musical theatre, which will prepare you for a full scale performance in our own theatre space, at the end of the academic year. Our projects introduce: exploration and appreciation of dance, drama and musical theatre, developing and exploring new techniques, as well as creative and compositional skills for your own work. The programme of study also includes preparing for your chosen career path.
4 GCSEs grade A*-C/grade 4 and above, BTEC 1st Diploma, appropriate NVQ Level 2 or Intermediate qualification. You will have a pre-induction interview/assessment to make sure this is the right level for you.
How is it taught
Learning takes place in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, through a weekly timetable of lessons which are a combination of workshops, lectures, rehearsals, discussions, independent study and tutorials. You will be allocated a personal tutor who is there to help you gain the most from your course and support you to enhance your learning.
How will I be assessed?
The course is assessed through internally devised and marked units which will be moderated by the awarding body.
What else do I need to know?
Maths and English will form an important part of your course; they are skills that we use and need within our study, work and everyday life. We have a wide range of high quality specialised facilities here including; a theatre, dance studio, lighting and sound equipment, which you will experience during your study. These in turn will allow you to prepare fully for progression of study in Performing Arts, Musical Theatre, or employment in the industry.

This qualification will provide you with the required ability to apply for Higher Education courses in related areas: Performing Arts, Musical Theatre, Dance, Acting, Production Arts or to enter employment.
