Needs Analysis

Professional &

The first step in making the most of your employees’ potential is to find out exactly what the organisation needs in terms of skills and then work out how these needs can be met.

The analysis considers:

  • The organisation as a whole
  • The teams within the organisation
  • Each individual employee

This FREE consultation that our business development advisors carry out with you will help you understand and plan the training and development needs of your business in the coming years. Within this we can include a training needs analysis for individual staff, to give each one a roadmap detailing the training they would benefit from to help your business reach its potential.

From the analysis of your needs, we will then be able to recommend for you the training and development options available, and develop specific training solutions to help meet those needs, thus saving you valuable time. These may include:

  • Recruitment of new additional staff
  • Apprenticeship programmes – for new employees or to significantly upskill existing employees
  • Work-based vocational qualifications such as NVQs
  • Professional qualifications including university-level courses
  • Statutory training such as First Aid, Health and Safety etc
  • Short courses to meet specific requirements such as sales training, customer service and manual handling
  • Units and modules from longer qualifications
  • Seminars or workshops with groups of employees
  • The development of bespoke training packages or new qualifications specific to your business needs

Professional & Vocational Training

With over 200 courses on offer we are committed to delivering great value, high quality training across a wide range of occupations and professions. We will work with you and your teams to provide training that fits around your business. We can run programmes that work with shift patterns, part-time working and unsocial hours.

The training available includes:

We provide a range of recognised qualifications from industry-leading awarding bodies such as AAT, CMI, NEBOSH and Microsoft. Qualifications are a necessary requirement in many industries and we ensure that we provide the most up-to-date provision. Qualifications can be delivered in college, or in some cases, by a blend of distance learning and classroom study.

Short courses are typically classroom based with learning lasting one or two days. They are designed to provide knowledge on a single subject such as First Aid, Security, IT, Renewables, Plumbing and Gas. These courses are typically held during the working day at one of our sites.

We offer a wide range of distance learning qualifications which are nationally recognised and provide you with a cost-effective and flexible way of increasing the knowledge of your workforce.

The vast majority of the qualifications we offer through distance learning at Stoke on Trent College are free. In addition, we work in partnership with e-careers to deliver a broader range of professional qualifications on a distance learning and blended learning basis, including Digital Marketing, Prince2 and Coding Institute qualifications.

Competency based qualifications, such as NVQs, are unit-based flexible qualifications which are developed to allow learners to demonstrate their job-related skills and knowledge. They give staff in a range of industries the opportunity to learn practical, work-related skills relevant to your business needs, your sector and the existing skills of your team. If you want to improve and certify the skills of your workforce, then our Assessors can work with you to develop your employees in the workplace and assess their competence as they develop.

Many of our courses can be delivered as part of a tailor-made programme for your business or employees. We are happy to deliver courses on our premises at times to suit you and your organisation or to develop distance learning packages that fit around your working day.
