Traineeships – Just the job for your future!
From January, Stoke on Trent College will offer traineeships in Performing Engineering Operations (Machining or Fabrication and Welding) and Construction Maintenance Operations.
Traineeships are for those who wish to get into, or improve in, skilled work. A traineeship is not the same as a full-time course nor is it an Apprenticeship; it combines elements of both to help you get the practical skills you need for your future whilst preparing you for work.
Who are these Traineeships for?
· Anyone aged 19 years and over and is unemployed, but seeking to get into work
What does a Traineeship involve?
· Work placement – with a local employer who has expressed an interest in looking for permanent staff.
· Work-ready skills programme – giving you the technical skills you need for the role, as well as vital support in CV writing, additional skills and much more.
· English and Maths skills (where needed) – you will get the support you need to gain Math and English skills applicable to the workplace (should you need it.)
Who might my work placement be with?
We are currently working with a whole range of employers in Stoke and North Staffs who are willing to offer Traineeship work placements, because they have genuine potential employment opportunities coming up. These include the likes of Thomas Vale Construction and JPR Engineering Services, who are currently working on our new campus buildings in Cauldon and Burslem.
How long will it last?
These Traineeships are planned to last for 12 to 16 weeks, depending on the skills that you need to gain. At the end of the Traineeship you will be ready for interview with the employer you’ve worked with or another in the same job sector.
What will it cost?
It doesn’t cost anything – to you, or to the employer who provides your work experience.
