Stoke on Trent Hair and Beauty students are a cut above the competition
Talented Hair and Beauty students at Stoke on Trent College will be recognised for their efforts at the end of a successful year of competition.
The 28 strong competition team have proved a cut above the rest with excellent finishes in prestigious national and regional competitions.
Rachel Lea, Course Team Leader, said: “It has been a fantastic year. Our students have picked up prizes in the Association of Hairdressers and Therapists awards, UK Skills and Professional Beauty awards and the year was crowned by Layla Thornton’s fantastic success in the Royal Opera House design challenge.”
Layla, aged 19 from Meir, triumphed against students from across the UK to take first place in the wigs and make-up section after being invited to work behind the scenes during a performance at the world famous Covent Garden venue.
Sarah Robinson, Stoke on Trent College Principal, will present prizes to the students on Wednesday (20 June) at 12 noon.
