Masterchef expert John Benson-Smith is to pass on his love of cooking to students at Stoke on Trent College.
John Benson-Smith will give a demonstration to students on catering courses at the college’s Cauldon campus.
The renowned chef is a former Northern Chef of the Year and has appeared several times as a judge on the popular BBC programme Masterchef.
He was also recruited by former Prime Minister Tony Blair as part of a six strong panel to improve food in the NHS.
Robert Hinsley, Assistant Director, Hospitality and Catering, said: “John Benson-Smith is currently in Stoke-on-Trent as he has taken on a consultancy role at the British Pottery Manufacturers Federation club (widely know as the Potters’ Club).
“We are delighted to host John’s demonstration. He will be showcasing some of his dishes on the day and he has agreed to work with our students over several months, encouraging them to be adventurous and develop their skills.
“The college has a close two-way relationship with the Potters’ Club. We help to train their apprentices and provide students to help out on large occasions and the club allow us to take students to their kitchens to show them how a high quality professional kitchen functions.”
John Benson-Smith, who is also consultant executive chef at the City of Manchester Stadium, will be at Stoke on Trent College on Monday afternoon (19 September).
The demonstration will take place at 3pm in the college’s student kitchens (Kitchen LG16).
