Students of Stoke on Trent College, who trained for the recent World Skills Competition in Abu Dhabi were amongst those receiving International acclaim for their work.

Joiner Conor Wilmott and Painter and Decorator Jordan Charters were both supported through the competition by Stoke on Trent College Tutor Pete Walters.  Conor also gained support from trainer Andrew Pengally as Pete was on the judging panel for Conor’s part of the competition.

Team UK retained its top-10 position at WorldSkills after competitors bagged one gold, three silvers, three bronzes and 13 medallions of excellence in Abu Dhabi.

All the competitors went home with their heads held high after pulling in a medal haul that betters rivals German and over 45 other nations at the skills Olympics.

The British team was the smallest one to make the global top 10.  Thirteen members of Team UK were awarded a medallion of excellence for reaching the international standard in their skill.  These included Jordan Charters in painting and decorating and Conor Wilmott in Joinery.
