Hair salon owners in Staffordshire and Cheshire will soon benefit from recruiting apprentices and staff who have all the latest hair cutting, styling and colouring techniques, thanks to the expert tuition of celebrity hairdresser Lee Stafford.
The TV personality, entrepreneur and multi-award-winning hairdresser visited Stoke on Trent College recently to launch the Lee Stafford Academy, which will train full-time and part-time students, as well as Apprentices, at the College’s Cauldon campus.
The new academy will provide opportunities for the region’s hairdressing economy to continue to grow. According to the National Hairdressing Federation, the UK hair and beauty industry contributes an estimated £7 billion a year to the UK economy, with more than 40,000 businesses employing around 287,000 people in hairdressing, barbering and beauty.
Lee has trained the college’s hairdressing lecturers and assessors on all the latest colouring and cutting techniques. In addition, students and staff will get access to online tutorials from his specialist education team. At the Academy’s launch, he commented:
“My team has been blown away by the standard of the staff here. The college staff share my passion in delivering this ultimate training programme to ensure that our students are the most employable stylists and colourists in the country.”
David O’Garr Head of Creative, Digital and Service Industries at Stoke on Trent College added: “Our partnership with Lee Stafford will bring fantastic opportunities to students and local businesses who want to recruit the best staff. Our team is excited about the opportunities for continuous professional development, learning techniques from a multi-award-winning hairdresser and businessman and passing that expertise on to our students.”
He continued: “This new development is part of our ongoing drive to ensure that all students at Stoke on Trent College develop the very best technical skills, make strong professional contacts in the industry and learn from experienced business people in their chosen career.”
