Stoke on Trent College raised the aspirations of our future leaders today. The head boys and girls have already been chosen from schools across the area for qualities such as guidance and teamwork. The motivational and aspirational event by Stoke on Trent College encouraged the students to think more about the qualities they need to be leaders, not only now, at school, but in the future.
Suzy Ball, school liaison and admissions team leader said: “As a college we wanted to not only celebrate the achievement they have already made in being chosen to be head boy or girl, but also recognise that these youngsters could be our future leaders and decision makers. By the end of the afternoon we hope that they will gain more skills in communication and decision making, enabling them to achieve more and conduct their role in school more effectively.”
A number of guest speakers, chosen for their motivational leadership, addressed the youngsters. Amongst them was Julie Mirowski from Rydale Roofing who discussed her role as one of the most influential women in the City.
During the afternoon, the head boys and girls participated in a leadership activity, presented by Keele University, throughout which representatives were on hand to give advice, feedback and guidance.
