College Celebrates Young Learners’ Achievements With Award Ceremony
Hundreds of year 11 students are to attend a graduation ceremony at Stoke on Trent College to celebrate their achievements under the School Partnerships Pre-16 programme.
Stoke on Trent College works with 28 local schools and offers over 400 Year 10 and Year 11 students the chance to visit the College one day a week to carry out vocational studies.
To mark their success, the tenth annual graduation event will be held in the Sports Hall at the College’s Burslem campus, on Friday May 6 from 1.30pm.
The ceremony marks the end of studies for more than 200 year 11 students, who have been learning at the College for two years, one day a week.
After completing their courses they are well-equipped to move into opportunities in further and higher education.
Guest speakers from Stoke City and Port Vale football clubs will be presenting prizes along with the College Principal, Sarah Robinson and Performing Art students from the College will also entertain the guests.
Kay Phillips, School Partnership Development Officer at Stoke on Trent College, said: “This awards event is an excellent opportunity to congratulate the young people on all their hard work and efforts.
“Every student is awarded a certificate of achievement and an Effort and Progress award will be presented to pupils who have improved throughout their time at the College”.
“Special awards will also be presented to students with 100 per cent attendance; for overcoming hardship and adversity, the outstanding group of the year and student of the year.
“Awarding certificates and surprise awards gives students an incentive to do well. The young people really enjoy their time at the College and we wish them all well for their future.”
