The Celebrating Success awards ceremonies, taking place at Stoke on Trent College’s Live Nation Centre for Media and Performing Arts, will honour students for a range of accomplishments and include the highly regarded Student of the Year awards.

The evenings will also include several special student accolades; Students of the Year Awards (Burslem and Cauldon), STAR Award for Foundation, STAR Award for Access to Higher Education, STAR Award for Sport and Public Services, STAR Award for Health and Childcare, STAR Award for Service Industries, STAR Award for Business and IT, 2 STAR Awards for Construction and Building Services, STAR Award for Engineering and Motor Vehicle, STAR Award for Visual and Performing Arts, Outstanding Progress Award (Burslem and Cauldon) and Apprentice of the Year (Burslem and Cauldon).

More than 400 guests from across the Staffordshire and Cheshire region, including key figureheads and businesses, will join staff and students over the two evenings.

They will be joined by Guest Speaker Kamal Hyman who will be encouraging everyone to Aim a Little Higher. Kamal is a young motivational speaker who drives to encourage students to harness their leadership skills in all areas of life, inspiring them to want more for themselves and set their standards higher than ever before.

Kevin Smith, Principal of Stoke on Trent College, said: “Each year Celebrating Success allows us to recognise and honour learners who have gone above and beyond during their studies at Stoke on Trent College.

“As in previous years, the number of entries we have received from tutors nominating learners for their outstanding skill, dedication and achievement, reflects the high level of commitment shown by students right across the college.

“Not only have we read nominations about inspirational learners who have battled adversity, but also those who have put fellow students first, going above and beyond in the community. We have also had nominations for students who have achieved success at the highest level in national competitions.

“We are incredibly proud to be able to celebrate their achievements and put them in the spotlight on these special evenings.”

The 2016 events are sponsored by a number of prominent local businesses including Choices Housing Association, Mitten Clarke, Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce, FWB Products, Wrights, Novus Property Solutions, JPR Engineering Services, Lesniak Swann Marketing Communications, Glen Dimplex Home Appliances, The Institute of Clerks of Works and Construction Inspectorate, and Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service
