A travel and tourism student from Stoke on Trent is flying high after impressing bosses at one of the UK’s leading low cost airlines.
Marketa Tatarova, who is currently studying a Level 3 Diploma in Travel and Tourism at Stoke on Trent College, has taken up a job with Ryanair as a member of their cabin crew team.
Following the successful completion of her Cabin Crew course last year, Marketa is now working full-time with Ryanair as well as finishing her Level 3 Travel and Tourism qualification at the College, using the intranet system “Moodle” and one-to-one support from tutors.
As part of her role with Ryanair, Marketa will fly on short-haul flights from East Midlands Airport to Poland, Portugal, Spain and Ireland.
There are now plans for Marketa to share her success and expertise to help future learners who enrol on the course, by volunteering her time to deliver sessions and advice with the support staff.
Marketa said: “This has been my dream since I was nine years old, when I travelled to Greece with my mum. I saw the cabin crew and I knew that’s where I wanted to be.
The course has been brilliant and everyone is so nice, it gave me the confidence to follow my dream of working for an airline.”
Jo Devereux, travel and tourism lecturer at Stoke on Trent College, said: “We are thrilled that Marketa has been able to achieve her dream to become air cabin crew, using the skills she has learned on the course.
“Having her come in and share her experiences with future students is going to prove valuable and a great asset to the course at Stoke on Trent College.”
