Bold colours, courageous concepts and creativity were display at Stoke on Trent College, as 24 hairdressing students created show-stopping looks in a bid for top prizes.
Level 3 Hairdressing students, who have been working with celebrity hairdresser Tristan Eves throughout this year, will each created two spectacular designs on models before judged by experts.
Each student creation was marked on imagination, creativity, artistic flair and the student’s technical ability to fully execute the awarding body criteria.
Winner, Laura Chadwick (pictured), will now get to spend a day working alongside Tristan and his team in his Covent Garden salon. Runner up Stephanie Dunn received a voucher towards a training seminar at the L’Oreal Manchester Academy donated by L’Oreal. Fellow students Kirsty Jones and Jamie- Lee Owen also received goodie bags with styling products from L’Oreal.
Stylist Tristan Eves has been supporting the students by showing them his styling secrets used in the industry on celebrities, during photo shoots and in music videos.
Gill Jones, Head of Hair, Beauty and Holistic Therapy at Stoke on Trent College, said: “The students were tasked with creating one avant-garde look and another design based on a theme of their choice. For both looks they had to complete the hair, make-up and clothing, which must come together to give the wow factor.
They were able to showcase all the skills they have learnt so far and really make their mark by creating something completely unique. Competitions like this really spur the learner’s imagination and we are always incredibly excited to see what they come up with from the brief they are given. We were thrilled with the results, all designs were of a very high calibre.
“We are very privileged to have the support of Tristan and L’Oreal who support our learners throughout the year, giving them a competitive edge in the industry and access to lots of fantastic additional resources.
“It gives them the confidence to know that they are going in to the industry with everything they possibly need.”
