Who are Ornua ?
Ornua – The Home of Irish Dairy, is an agri-food commercial co-operative which markets and sells dairy products on behalf of its members; Ireland’s dairy processors and, in turn, the Irish dairy farmer. Headquartered in Dublin, Ornua is Ireland’s largest exporter of Irish dairy products, exporting to c.110 countries worldwide and has sales of c.€1.75 billion annually. It operates from 18 business units worldwide and has sales and marketing teams working in-market across all four corners of the globe; from Algiers to Beijing to Lagos and LA.
Ornua’s business is comprised of two divisions: Ornua Foods and Ornua Ingredients. Ornua Foods is responsible for the international marketing and sales of Ornua’s consumer brands, including Kerrygold, Dubliner, Pilgrims Choice, Shannongold, Forto and BEO milk powder brands. Markets are served by plants and in-market sales and marketing teams in Ireland, the UK, Germany, the rest of Europe, the US, Africa, the Middle East and Asia.
Ornua Ingredients is responsible for the procurement of Irish and non-Irish dairy products and for the sale of dairy ingredients to food manufacturers and foodservice customers. Ornua Ingredients is supported by plants in Saudi Arabia, Spain, the UK, the US, and by an in-market teams in the Middle East and Africa region.

Operating from our state-of-the art facility in Leek, Staffordshire as part of the global Ornua group, our brands include Pilgrims Choice and Kerrygold and, through strategic partnerships with leading dairy providers, we are also the largest buyer of British cheese in the UK.
Annually we package over 75,000 tonnes of cheese for the UK’s largest retailers including Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Aldi, Lidl and Waitrose.

You will be joining at a very exciting time, having just completed phase one of our transformation to becoming the leading engineering operation in diary. We embrace change and you will be using some of the most innovative improvement techniques available to ensure that our advanced manufacturing equipment and processes continue to lead our industry sector.
Our apprenticeship scheme covers 7 years and is an advanced performance plus standard. The first year is off the job full time at college learning engineering fundamentals; machining, fitting, electrical, electronics and technical drawing. In the second and third years, you will complete NVQ Level 3 across all engineering maintenance disciplines while studying for your HNC. Year 4 you will complete the higher apprenticeship pathway and complete your HNC. In Year 5 you will start your part time study for a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
We will also support your personal development with annual 5 day events working with the Outward-Bound Trust and will be working the Institute of Mechanical Engineers to support your continued professional development and supporting you to gain chartered status.
While working with us you will enjoy a very competitive benefits package with a starting salary of £14,500 raising incrementally dependant on performance. Fully qualified, experienced multi-skilled engineers can expect to earn up to £42,000 at Ornua.
The Apprenticeship will start in September 2017.
