Course Summary

This is a one year course for individuals to learn, develop and practice the skills required for employment and/or career progression in the electro-technology sector. It will provide the basic range of skills for anyone entering the Electrical Installation Industry and working in Domestic, Commercial and Industrial premises.
The course covers the following units:-
Basic installation practice and technology
Working effectively and safely
Practical competences
Principles of Electrotechnology
Application of Health, Safety and Electrical Principles.
Teaching will comprise a variety of classroom and practical based activities.

Certificate in Basic Construction Skills
Level 1 - Plumbing and Electrical
Engineers. You will have a pre-induction
interview/assessment to make sure this
is the right level for you.

How Is It Assessed

Methods used are: On-screen multiple choice examinations Centre-marked written and practical assessments

How Is It Taught

The units are taught through a mixture of classroom theory sessions and workshop practical sessions.

What Could I do Next

Successful completion of this study programme will enable students to progress to the City and Guilds Electrical Installation Level 3, to help you towards being a fully trained electrical installer.

What Else Do I Need To Know

You will need the correct PPE for this course, including a hi vis jacket and steel toe cap footware. You will also need pens, pencils and workpad/notebook plus City and Guilds text book. Candidates must be prepared to take on challenges and put in the extra mile to achieve this qualification. It needs dedication and full commitment.
