A chat with Ashley – now an Apprentice with the NHS

“This programme helped me to build confidence, ambition and explore my career options. I decided I wanted to get into the NHS and the programme helped me to gain a better understanding of a role in the care industry, as well as providing the opportunity to apply for an Apprenticeship with the NHS. I really enjoyed the NHS tour before starting my work placement. Before the course, I just wanted to get a job but know university is definitely an option for me now.

“My work placement helped to put the job into perspective and allowed me to gain skills specific to the job such as moving and handling. It really helped me to build confidence in the workplace and when communicating with patients.

“I would definitely recommend this programme to other people, especially if you are not sure about your career options. It’s also good to help you to build skills or confidence ready for the work environment.”
